Note of Encouragement
Forgiven Much
“Her many sins have been forgiven—as her great love has shown. But whoever has been forgiven little loves little.” Luke 7:47
As we come together to worship our Lord and Savior, we must remember one important thing: we have been forgiven much.
Whenever we feel tempted to think of ourselves as better than someone else, we need to remember: we have been forgiven much.
When we don’t feel like reading the Bible or praying or having self-control, we should remember; we have been forgiven much.
And because we have been forgiven much, now is the time to kneel at our Savior’s feet, and kiss Him, and bless Him, and serve Him.
In this story in Luke 7, Simon the Pharisee who was supplying the feast, was upset. This woman was a known sinner—why should she be given any attention?
But Jesus quickly put him in his place: “Do you see this woman? I came into your house. You did not give me any water for my feet, but she wet my feet with her tears and wiped them with her hair” (v.44). Can you feel the amazing love this woman poured out on her Lord?
Can you see how much we owe Him? We have been forgiven much.
Dear Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, help me remember how much I have been forgiven. Amen
