Note of Encouragement

A Love Like That
“No, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him who loved us. For I am convinced that neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither the present nor future, nor any powers, neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord.”  Romans 8:37-39
Have you ever loved someone so much – truly adored someone so deeply – that when the slightest tension arose between the two of you – well, you couldn’t wait another hour, not even another moment, to make it right? You wanted all to be well so you could make the relationship just the way it was? So, you could run into his [or her] arms with abandon?
Yes, we have the ability to love in such a glorious and generous way, and yet our Father in Heaven loves us more deeply, more lavishly, more fervently.
Let us always want to make things right with our Lord as quickly as possible. Let us run into His welcoming arms. Let us love Christ – without fear, without reservation. So much so that the world looks on and says, “I too want a love like that!”
Prayer
Lord, thank You for Your great love. Please show me how to love You more deeply every day. [In Jesus name] Amen.

Be Disciplemakers

By Pastor Starla Smith
Last month, Pastor Chad has been teaching in a series called - All in this together! While he has been directly speaking about becoming disciple-makers, part of that process is to be one who serves others. We all have so much on our plates that at times it can be really easy to just stick to our schedule and not extend our time and abilities outside of what must be done. But Jesus said something really profound in John 12:26 Whoever serves me must follow me; and where I am, my servant also will be. My Father will honor the one who serves me. Our first duty as a disciple of Jesus is to be his servant. As servants, (which at times we forget that we are) we have to be available to what God is doing. Jesus said in Mark 10:45, "For even the Son of Man did not come to be served, but to serve, and to give his life as a ransom for many." This thinking goes counter cultural to how we typically function. Everyone loves to be the person that other people are willing to help. Everyone loves to be the center of someone elses attention. But Jesus also said in Mark 9:35, “Anyone who wants to be first must be the very last, and the servant of all.” Our postion in Christ is that of being first with Him, at the right hand of the Father, but our actions are to be that of those who serve. Why? Because Jesus gave his life as a service to humanity, and for that, gratitude calls for disciples who serve one another and others.
Question: Who can you serve this month and give just a little of your time to offer them some help and really be a serving disciple?
