Springs News 7/1/2022

Hello Springs Family!
We wanted to refresh our newletter to bring relevant and fun information directly to your email. We recognize our families are busy and summer is always a time where there is a lot of coming and going. So, we decided that we would cut our newsletter down to once a month.

New Ministry Launch!

Ladies,
I am very excited to relaunch our Springs Women's Ministry. It has been on my heart for sometime and several of you have been asking about it. So, here we go. As we develop what this ministry will look like, I want our focus to be Christ Himself, Community, and Contemplation of our roots, foundations, identity and how we express our faith to a lost and dying world. Our first meeting was a prayer and worship session on Thursday, June 30th. I always enjoy worshiping our God with the women of Springs.

We want to partner with Sister Life w/ Christina Hernandez to connect with other ladies from our local body of Christ. It's wonderful to hear the teaching, testimonies, and words of exhortation from the ladies in attendance. I appreciate how Sister Life honors what God is doing in and through the women of God in our city. Sister Life is every 3rd Thursday. Come out this month on July 21st at "The Commons" at Maranatha Church.

On July 28th we will gather for a Bible Study Night. This will be a time of digging into the word, prayer, and small group discussion. We will have Childcare available for our Mama's.

Garrison Gazette

When Addi Garrison first came to Springs of Life she would pass out handwritten Garrison Gazette's. I loved to read the gazette! We decided that since Addi has a love of writing, and sharing articles, and facts that we would create a Springs of Life template for her to share her thoughts and ideas from her perspective about things going on at Springs of Life.
Click the Gazette to expand for reading! Enjoy!

Celebrate the Wins!

Through our Benvolence giving fund:
  •  We were able to help one of our ladies get home to her family after her brother passed away. There is something beautiful about the body of Christ being the hands and feet during times of grief.
  • We were able to help one of our families keep their lights on during this tough season.
Thank you Springs of Life for giving and helping to get leaders, kids, and teens to camp:
  • You gave $4445.00  Praise the Lord!
Baptisms and Salvations:
  • We had Elias Marshall proclaim he will "follow after Christ" in believers baptism.
  • Jon Furrow led a co-worker named, Jacob Wendt, to the Lord. He started coming to church and he was baptized too this past Sunday, June 26th.
New Staff Member:
  • A.J Williams, our new NextGen Pastor, is at camp with our teens too as he finishes up his employment with Tipton Foursquare Church. His first day at Springs of Life will be July 19th. We are very excited to have A.J on the team. He has found housing her in Cedar Rapids and will get married soon, in October, to Taylor. We look forward to both of them being here.

Devotional Corner

We have been in the series called Pray Like This. We have been in the book of Matthew in a familiar text where Jesus teaches his disciples how to pray.
Matthew 6:9-13 9 Pray then like this:
“Our Father in heaven,
hallowed be your name.
10 Your kingdom come,
your will be done,
on earth as it is in heaven.
11 Give us this day our daily bread,
12 and forgive us our debts,
as we also have forgiven our debtors.
13 And lead us not into temptation,
    but deliver us from evil.

Jesus gave us this prayer as a template for our own prayers. Prayer has a way of shifting deep emotional things into a place where they can be released and healing can come. Prayer not only brings us close to God but also into His holiness. It helps our hearts navigate the way to a place of dependence on God. It helps us in our daily experience and without it we become independent or worse self-dependent. We end up trying to carry the world on our shoulders. We struggle to fix things we can't, waste time being frustrated, and end up full of stress. Prayer is a heart adjuster! It makes it possible to thrive in a hostile world. Romans 12:12 Rejoice in hope, be patient in tribulation, be constant in prayer. The world needs the people of God to be full of compassion. For our roots must be deeply rooted in the love of Christ. There are a lot of hurting and broken people and o first line of defence  to help them is maintaining our own prayer life.
