Church As We Go: Real Community, Right at Home

Coming June 29th, we’re stepping outside of our regular church routine to experience something a little different—and deeply intentional. Church As We Go is all about reinforcing our Core Value of Community by bringing church into our homes and shaping it around conversation, prayer, and connection.

We’ve asked a number of people to say, “I’m available”—to open their doors, to open space in their schedules, and most importantly, to open their lives to others.

If that’s you, thank you. If that something you would be interesting in doing, awesome!
Let me tell you a little about how we structure these Church As We Go events:

As part of this special Sunday, you’ll be provided with a prerecorded message to guide your time together. We encourage each group to watch the message, use the discussion questions provided, and spend time in prayer and response. This is church done like a Community Group—relational, Spirit-led, and centered on Jesus.

Worship is welcome, but not required—it might be a song or two, or simply taking time to share what God has been doing in each other’s lives.

You’re also invited to make the time your own: share a meal, assign different parts of the morning to others, or even include a simple activity. It doesn’t need to be polished—it just needs to be real.

Now, a word from one of our host families, Amy and Drew Hughes, who’ve lived this out over the past two years:

"We have now hosted Church As We Go in our home for the past two years, and plan to do so again this year. Drew and I are, admittedly, a couple of introverts who struggle with small talk on typical Sunday mornings. Being able to "do life" with a small group of others in a home environment allowed us to have deeper conversations.  It has also helped us to connect with people who we might not normally get to talk to because of where we sit on Sunday mornings. We initially offered to host because, as parents of two littles, it was simply easier to keep our kids in their own environment.  But also, we love getting to know people over a shared meal! This is totally optional, but we chose to invite everyone to stay for lunch after church.  We've always had such a great time and I can't help thinking that maybe it is a bit like how the early church operated."

That reflection is a beautiful example of what Church As We Go is meant to be: real people gathering in real spaces, letting the Spirit lead, and rediscovering the kind of community we were made for.

Whether you’re hosting or attending, may this Sunday be a moment to slow down, gather in, and see one another—really see one another—in the way God calls us to as the body of Christ.

LET’S BE THE CHURCH… AS WE GO.
